Hemp Ointment for pain - How does it work?

Author: Pavel Cermak

Muscle and Joint Pain are among the most common health problems. They affect both seniors and increasingly younger people. There are many causes. The substances found in cannabis help to relax muscle tension and alleviate pain. Particularly popular is the Cannadora Hemp Ointment for Pain, read more about how it works.

Cannadora Hemp Ointment for pain - How does it work?

The hemp ointment for pain is applied directly to the skin, it does not enter the bloodstream (like CBD oil does). And it is on the skin where there is a high concentration of cannabinoid receptors. Cannabinoid receptors are part of the endocannabinoid system, a body-wide system discovered in the 1990s that influences many important functions (including pain).

The hemp ointment thus acts directly on the problem and helps reduce pain in the affected area. If you would like to support the body in a more comprehensive and internal way, it is important to supplement with CBD orally (capsules, oil). For severe pain, we definitely recommend taking CBD from different directions.

The effects of hemp ointments are now well known, and they are most commonly used for conditions like eczema, CBD for muscle and joint pain, dry skin, and even issues like hemorrhoids.

Dosage of Hemp Ointment for pain

First, it is important to clarify whether the pain is occasional or chronic. Based on that, you should choose the dosage of hemp ointment for pain.
For occasional pain, it is enough to apply the ointment to the affected area only when pain starts (if it's a joint issue, choose hemp ointment for muscles and joints).
For chronic pain, it is suitable to use the ointment several times a day. You can apply it up to 4 times a day. If the pain doesn't subside, we recommend trying CBD gels, which are suitable for immediate relief of muscles and joints. After a few days, the issues should subside. However, for any persistent pain, we recommend visiting a doctor and not relying solely on nature :-).

How to apply Hemp Ointment for pain correctly?

With ointments designed for sore muscles and joints, there is likely to be a warming ingredient that adds effectiveness – it’s usually chili. Therefore, avoid any contact with mucous membranes or eyes. You might regret it; these ointments typically burn like fire :-). This is also why these ointments are not recommended for use on children.

It is suitable to apply the ointment to the sore area and massage it gently to spread it well. You can leave a small layer of the ointment on the skin, as it will continue to work longer.

Who should not use Hemp Ointments for pain?

Hemp ointments usually have no side effects. However, it is important to read the ingredients carefully before use, to avoid an allergic reaction to any of the components in the ointment. Particularly, ointments containing comfrey or chili may cause an allergic reaction.

Therefore, start with a very small amount for the first dose. Only if your skin reacts well, you can continue applying.

If you suffer from localized pain, you might want to try using CBD patches.

Does Hemp Ointment help with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

What are Carpal Tunnels?

A carpal tunnel (commonly called carpal) is a part of the wrist where tendons responsible for bending the fingers and the median nerve are located. Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve is compressed.

Most cases of carpal tunnel syndrome do not have a specific cause, but multiple factors can contribute, such as:

  • Frequent and repetitive hand movements – typing on a keyboard
  • Joint and bone diseases (rheumatism, arthritis)
  • Hormonal or metabolic changes (menopause, pregnancy)
  • Changes in blood sugar levels (type 2 diabetes)
  • Other wrist changes – fractures, swelling, dislocations
  • Family history (someone in the family suffers from carpal tunnel syndrome)

Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

  • Weakness when grasping objects with one or both hands
  • Pain or numbness in one or both hands
  • A "pins and needles" sensation in the fingers
  • A feeling of swollen fingers
  • Burning or tingling in the fingers, especially in the thumb, index, and middle fingers
  • Pain or numbness that worsens at night and disrupts sleep

The symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome may resemble other health conditions or problems. Always get a diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome from your doctor.

How to treat carpal tunnels?

The treatment depends on the severity of the issues.

  1. Wrist splinting - prevents wrist movement and thus reduces nerve compression inside the tunnel.

  2. Anti-inflammatory medications - especially to reduce swelling.

  3. Surgical procedure - relieves nerve compression.

  4. Exercise - stretching and strengthening exercises.

  5. Using local creams for carpal tunnels - supports the results of comprehensive therapy.

Why use a cream for carpal tunnels?

A cream is something you can use almost immediately without needing to consult with your doctor (of course, we repeat that only a doctor can diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome, and it’s important to visit one). However, a cream can be your first option before you see a doctor or as part of an ongoing treatment.

Carpal tunnel creams contain various ingredients that regenerate and calm the area. They reduce pain and improve finger sensitivity.

We definitely recommend using creams with a natural composition - ideally, a hemp cream for carpal tunnels.

Which hemp cream to use for carpal tunnels?

If there is no swelling in the carpal tunnels and the skin is not hot, you can use a hemp cream for muscles and joints, or even a CBD warming or cooling gel (depending on whether you prefer cold or heat), which also works against pain.

How does CBD affect carpal tunnels?

A study conducted in 2020 examined the use of CBD for carpal tunnels, and while the results exceeded expectations and most participants reported a reduction in pain, it is not yet possible to confirm the effectiveness of CBD specifically for carpal tunnels based on one study.

Another study titled "Cannabidiol for the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome: A randomized controlled trial" investigates the effectiveness of cannabidiol (CBD) in treating carpal tunnel syndrome. In this randomized controlled trial, the authors assessed whether CBD application could relieve symptoms such as pain, numbness, and tingling in the hands. The results suggest that CBD may be an effective alternative to traditional treatments, but the authors recommend further research to confirm these findings.

What we do know for sure about CBD is that it has anti-inflammatory effects, which could certainly be useful in the case of carpal tunnel syndrome. When combined with a cooling effect, such as in a CBD cooling gel, it also helps reduce swelling.

To maximize anti-inflammatory effects in the body, consider taking CBD drops orally as well when dealing with carpal tunnel syndrome.

User experiences with hemp cream for pain

My experience with hemp cream
I discovered Cannadora a year ago, and I’m very happy about it. At first, I wasn’t sure, but thanks to their great customer communication, I not only got advice on what to choose but also on how to use it. You can tell they have the right people in the right place. I ordered CBD capsules for physical pain and also for insomnia, and their beautiful green color is a treat for the eyes. Not only that, but it’s also wonderful for falling asleep and I felt a general sense of mental calmness. As a second product, I have the hemp cream with chili for sore joints and muscles. It doesn’t have lard, so it smells nice and spreads well for massaging; for me, it’s great. I’m looking forward to trying other products. I wish you a beautiful day and keep up the great work.

CBD oil for a sore knee
My daughter (a healthcare professional living outside the Czech Republic), who is interested in oils, ordered it for me because I injured my knee ligaments two years ago. My knee occasionally swells up and just causes problems – all due to some rheumatic background. After using the oil, the swelling disappeared, the pain lessened, and what’s more – the chronic fatigue also disappeared. Everything improved visibly after just a week (!!) of using it.
I was most surprised by how the fatigue disappeared because I really didn’t expect that...
Personally, I don’t believe in “quick effects.” I feel that everything worthwhile doesn’t come "right away" – as we’re often told...
Maybe the quick onset of effects was also helped by the fact that I don’t take any medication (even Paralen only minimally and only when absolutely necessary), we live very healthily within our possibilities, and above all, I try to think healthily :))
